The advantages of information processing in a ubiquitous environment are that the real world can be recognized, and flexible information services and environmental control can be provided, in accordance with the information acquired from the real world. This type of information processing method is called "Context-Aware" information process. There are various types of information (context) in the real world, and one of the most basic information is information on locations of people and physical objects.

We conducted research on multi-modal location detection methods that can achieve higher accuracy and cost-effectiveness than a single method by combining multiple location detection methods. We conducted research on a location detection method achieved by combining IC cards and motion trackers, a location detection method achieved by combining image information from multiple network cameras and motion trackers and so on.
